Are you passionate about defending human rights and promoting justice across Africa? The Committee for Justice (CFJ) is inviting applications for its 2026 Human Rights Fellowship, a six-month, full-time opportunity based in Nairobi, Kenya. The fellowship offers emerging human rights professionals the chance to gain practical experience in research, advocacy, and international human rights engagement.

The programme is designed for young professionals who want to strengthen their skills while contributing to efforts that document human rights violations, support accountability, and engage with regional and international human rights mechanisms.

What Fellows Will Do

Selected fellows will work alongside experienced human rights experts and contribute to:

• Monitoring and documenting human rights violations.
• Conducting legal and policy research.
• Supporting advocacy initiatives before African and United Nations human rights mechanisms.
• Assisting in preparing reports, communications, and human rights documentation.
• Engaging with civil society partners and human rights defenders.

Who Can Apply?

The fellowship is open to applicants who:

• Are under 35 years of age.
• Have a background in law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to human rights, justice, and advocacy.
• Possess excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Are available to work full-time for six months beginning in September 2026.
