Young Women in Non-Proliferation and Disarmament 2026–2027 Mentorship Programme (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the Young Women in Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (YWNPD) Mentorship Programme 2026–2027, a prestigious international mentorship and career development initiative organized by the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation. The programme is designed to support and empower young women who are interested in careers related to non-proliferation, arms control, disarmament, international security, diplomacy, and global policy.

Running from 15 September 2026 to 15 May 2027, the programme provides participants with access to experienced mentors, professional networking opportunities, conferences, workshops, and career development activities aimed at preparing the next generation of women leaders in international security.

About the Programme

The Young Women in Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Mentorship Programme is organized under the Young Women and Next Generation Initiative (YWNGI) and seeks to increase women's participation and leadership in fields traditionally underrepresented by women. Successful applicants will be paired with renowned experts from around the world who will provide guidance, career advice, and professional mentorship throughout the programme.

Participants will engage in:

  • Regular virtual mentoring sessions with assigned mentors
  • Career and skills development workshops
  • Networking opportunities with professionals and peers
  • Participation in selected conferences and seminars
  • Exposure to current issues in non-proliferation, arms control, and disarmament policy discussions

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be female students currently enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate programmes; or
  • Be recent graduates who completed their studies no earlier than June 2024
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in non-proliferation, arms control, disarmament, international security, or related fields
  • Possess good English language skills, as the programme will be conducted in English
  • Be available to participate in monthly virtual activities throughout the programme period

Applications are welcome from all nationalities and regions worldwide.

  1. A video (1–2 minutes maximum) explaining their motivation for applying
  2. A résumé or CV (maximum two pages)
  3. Academic transcript showing courses and grades
  4. One recommendation letter specifically supporting the application for this programme
